World's first entirely biodegradable computer mouse
Fujitsu Technology Solutions, a provider of ICT-based business solutions, has unveiled the world's first entirely biodegradable computer mouse.
Substituting renewable materials for plastics, the Eco mouse is "100% recyclable", Fujitsu said.
Made from Arboform lignin-based plastic from Tecnaro and Biograde C7500 CL cellulose ester (acetate) compound material from FKuR, the M440 Eco mouse joins the KBPC PX Eco keyboard in the line-up of accessories manufactured from renewable materials.
The KBPC PX Eco keyboard was launched in 2010.
The latest development is part of Fujitsu's efforts to promote sustainable production.
Addressing delegates at the VDI injection moulding conference in Baden-Baden on 22 February, Christoph Lohr, market development and technical service manager at Germany-based FKuR, said the price of M440 Eco is £13, up to three times the cost of equivalent mice.
However, this claim was refuted by Fujitsu, which said M440 Eco does not cost more than conventional models.
