Fujitsu's data centre in north London has received Tier 3 Operational Sustainability Gold Certification
Fujitsu's data centre in north London has received Tier 3 Operational Sustainability Gold Certification for its uninterrupted uptime and availability of cloud services.
The certification, which is the first tier three badge to be awarded in Europe by the Uptime Institute, recognises the infrastructure managed by the facility for the provision of continuous access to the cloud.
Mark Kerr, head of data centres, Fujitsu UK and Ireland, said: "Our Tier III Gold Certification from Uptime Institute provides independent authoritative validation that Fujitsu is delivering continuous availability, further ensuring confidence in the cloud."
Mark Poley, marketing manager for the data centre, said the facility received the certification in recognition of the efficient handling of resources at the data centre by the staff.
He told industry news website eWEEK Europe: "It's about how well the staff run the data centre, how they do their job."
Uptime vice president Julian Kudritzki also pointed out that "reliability remains key to the data centre industry".
He added: "There are innovative and clever ways to get energy efficient solutions, but we have yet to see high availability clients make energy efficiency a priority."
